She adopted a soldier during his deployment, sending baked goods, letters, etc. After his deployment, he was discharged and went home in the midwest and married his sweetheart. She was invited to the wedding. I am always of the mind that we need to say thank you to the men & women who defend our country at home and abroad every we chance we get. Go to www.soldiersangels.org
You can join or you can just mail a care package from their store. And who's footing the bill? You & me. GM knew they were fighting a losing battle 3+ years ago, but continued to make poor business decisions while living high on the hog. Yoohooo. Who's footing the bill now? You & me. Again. And on it goes.

The freak show of Octo-Mom. The following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Kaye from GA. This guy should run for President one day...

'We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights.'

ARTICLE I:
You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II:
You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III:
You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV:
You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are qu ickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V:
You do not have the right to free health care.. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI:
You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair..

ARTICLE VII:
You do not have th e right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII:
You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. Amen and Amen!

ARTICLE IX:

You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X:

This is an English speaking country . We don't care where you a re from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from!

Last but not least:

ARTICLE XI:

You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!

Stuff

One of the things that bothers me the most about Obama is his association w/Jeremiah Wright.
After reading the website for the church - it boggles my mind that anyone thinks the mother country is Africa. Another thing is what I have worked for, Obama thinks I should share w/those less fortunate. I try to do that every chance I get. But to take it from me after I have earned it because the government is allowed to do so just seems wrong to me. There should be no such thing as entitlements. The welfare system needs a strong overhaul. And like the email that circulates about peeing in a cup to collect their checks and food stamps is right on. Nothing irks me more than to go to the grocery store and see someone use the Independence card, then go climb in their Cadillac.

Sarah held her own in the debates. But neither really stood out. I didn't see a "winner"-more like a draw, but the media has already elected Obama. If ever there was a time for the evangelicals to show up-it's election day. It's just my humble opinion this country cannot afford Obama.

And then there's the bailouts. I have a problem with that too. Bush had stated a few months ago that Wall Street had gotten drunk. Turns out he was right on about that. The brokers have stood on Wall Street and tried to drive us all to the poor house, did anyone not think this bubble would burst? Sadly enough, we all suffer from their actions at every turn. AIG gets our tax dollars and takes a vacation. How come the media isn't dogging these people? I would if I could. The audacity really pisses me off.

Last but not least, I went to the Apple-Scrapple festival yesterday. 1st time. It was most enjoyable and very well organized. I am looking forward to next year already. Good job Bridgeville.

Coastal Hospice

Our mom passed away last month. I cannot say enough about ALL of the people associated with Coastal Hospice. I know that we could not have done this without them. The nurses at Coastal Hospice by the Lake were just wonderful. Kind, caring, and compassionate. They didn't just take care of Mom-they took care of all of us. It's been a tough few weeks. The cards, thoughts and prayers have sustained us through this difficult time. No jitters, no stammering-just acting like she belonged there. And answered the pundits. I thought a cute moment was when the camera panned to the youngest daughter who was holding her brother-she licked her hand and smoothed his hair down. That was just too cute.

I look forward to the debates. I hope she can chew Biden and spit him out. I believe she is gutsy and aggressive. Just what we need. Looking forward to following her to the election. At this point, probably the only thing I would change is Palin/McCain instead of the other way around.

Sara Palin

Naming Sara Palin as V.P. candidate for John McCain has caused quite the stir in the media world. She wasn't on the radar as a serious candidate, so when he named her-the games began. I have been listening the past few days to people's comments. The best one was "she doesn't even have a decent resume". You must be kidding. The ones w/the resumes is what has this country where it is. Democrat or Republican. I like that the Republican Party thought outside the box. Now that's change! And it's being reported that she isn't scared to play ball w/the big boys. Go Sassy Sara! I would love to see her shake up Washington. It's what we all have been screaming for. Change on some level or another. I am looking forward to hearing her speak at the convention.

I have thought alot about the email that circulated a few weeks ago-about 435 politicians that decide our fate. There is alot of truth to that, and we have the power to change it. It's called a vote, and those who have been in the senate or the house 20+ years should be sent home. They will never have to worry about retirement or healthcare-send them home to live w/the laws they have passed. We do have the power to do that!

And now the hub-bub tonight is about Sara's teenage daughter being preggars.
A very wise man once told me "if that is the worse either of my daughters ever do, then we haven't done too bad". That man was my dad. Telling him I was pregnant was hard-but telling him I didn't want to get married was even worse. Truth is "Forever" just wasn't looking good on the guy. I knew how to be a good mom because I had one, but I had no interest in being married to a man I knew I wouldn't love forever.

It shouldn't matter and it certainly doesn't to me that her daughter is pregnant. God Bless them all-it's not a road for sissies, and I couldn't have done it w/o my parent's support. I worked 40+ hours a week and sometimes 2 jobs so that we weren't on welfare. I made my bed and I laid in it, and being a Mom is the most important job I will ever have. EVER! My son is college educated, employed, and lives on his own in another state-I have been blessed EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE w/that young man.

So to Sara and her family-keep your head high. If the worse she ever does is come home pregnant then you've done ok.

Yodeling

I had always wondered and now I know.

Have you ever wondered where and how yodeling began?

Many years ago a man was traveling through the mountains of Switzerland

Nightfall was rapidly approaching and he had nowhere to sleep. He went up to a farmhouse and asked the farmer if he could spend the night. !

The farmer told him that he could sleep in the barn.
As the story goes, the farmer's daughter asked her father, "Who is that man going into the barn?"
"That fellow traveling through," said the farmer. "needs a place to stay for the night, so, I told him he could sleep in the barn."
The daughter said, "Perhaps he is hungry." So she prepared him a plate of food for him and then took it out to the barn.
About an hour later, the daughter returned. Her clothing disheveled and straw in her hair. Straight up to bed she went.
The farmer's wife was very observant. She then suggested that perhaps the man was thirsty. So she fetched a bottle of wine, took it out to the barn,! and she too did not return for an hour. Her clothing was askew, her blouse buttoned incorrectly. She also headed straight to bed.
The next morning at sunrise the man in the barn got up and continued on his journey, waving to the farmer as he left.

When the daughter awoke and learned that the visitor was gone, she broke into tears. "How could he leave without even saying goodbye," she cried. "We made such passionate love last night!"

"What?" shouted the father as he angrily ran out of the house looking for the man, who by now was halfway up the mountain.

The farmer screamed up at him, "I'm going to get you! You had sex with my daughter!"
The man looked back down from the mountainside, cupped his hand next to his mouth, and yelled out.....
"LAIDTHEOLADEETOO"

Thank You Friends

Thanks to all of you for your kind words-you know who you are. And thanks for your prayers.
It's was just a rough month and working and caregiving and on and on. I was frazzled, not to mention nearly broke. LOL.. but I think I have regrouped enough for now.

My mother is the hospice patient. It is a non-cancer diagnosis and they have been coming for a while now. It's been like a roller coaster-fair one week, downhill the next, then feels a little better for a while. It's heart & lung problems and most days are a chore for her. Edema is a big problem and that has stayed a little longer the past couple of weeks-more than usual. But every day is a gift, and I will be lost w/o her when the time comes.

During my pity party last month, I realized I have spent a good portion of my life taking care of a loved one in one way or another. And then I decided I wouldn't do anything different if given the chance. We tend to do what we need to do when it needs doing and that's the way it should be. And through it all, I am blessed beyond measure.

I did have a giggle the other day-there was story on the news wire (CNN or Comcast I think) about a salon in D.C that is offering fish pedicures. Seems the fishys don't have teeth, but they like to munch the dead skin off your feet. My first thought was to throw up-but then I pictured all these women sitting in a salon w/the fishes. Wonder if they use the same # of fish in each tub? What do they do w/the fish when they are done? Do you have to cleanse them a certain way or let them swim in clean water for a period of time? How about if they aren't hungry? You know some feet have to be worse than others and I just wonder how many it takes. I don't think the article said that. But I do think it was in 15 or 30 minute increments. This particular salon had a large tub that catered to many women at the same time, but when they went w/the fish treatment, the health dept. required them to have individual soaking tubs for the clients. If gas wasn't so high, I would probably take a day trip just to be nosey. LOL...
I guess the big question is would you let fish chew on your feet? I am thinking I will pass on that treatment.

Drama, Drama, Drama

Not even sure where to begin-it's been one thing after another.

1st my computer went on the blitz. 8 days and $140 later, I got it back. Still not sure what was wrong, but by the time they get done gouging you for a "diagnosis", then they want to sell you something that will make your computer "just like new". Well, guess what-if it will do all of that, I will just spend the $$ on a new one.

A few days after that, my car went up. Not just broke, but terminal. Throwed something in the engine. That began my quest for another vehicle. It wasn't unexpected, and Lord knows the car didn't owe me anything, but it's just the thought of a car payment. Ick-yuck-pooh!

I would guess it's every car salesman quest to see how they can screw you. I had one tell me the bank "tells us what we sell a car for". I said I preferred to be kissed before being screwed and walked out. It was a well known dealership and I will never go there ever. I am some dumb, but not all dumb.

I came home and proceeded to do my homework on car buying-the scams to look out for, interest rates, new vs used, etc. Only one place would give me anything for my clunker-but w/the price of metal these days, they were making some $$ and I didn't have the worry of how to dispose of my car. When it was all said and done, I ended up w/what I wanted, but I am just amazed at some of the tricks they will try. I understand they make their $$ in the interest rates, but they will all gouge you if you let them. I had to dicker a little, but in the end I feel like I made an informed decision thanks to the internet. I needed a vehicle, but I wasn't desperate.

I hadn't even been able to keep up w/Cuff, and Veggieland, and Soap because there has been so much going on. But I think I am back on track now.

And no to the dickless wonder who made an anon comment on the hospice post, there isn't one less blogger. Be safe and God Bless each and every one of you.

Reverend Wright

I have been watching this man with some interest. Back in February, I filed my taxes using Turbo Tax like I do every year. I do the electronic thing for the federal, and I just mail off the state. My state refund is almost always under $35, so as long as I don't have to pay, I figure I can afford a stamp to mail it.

My grand total refund for last year from the state was a whopping $30. About 2 weeks after I mailed it, I checked the "Where's my refund" on the comptroller's site. It told me I would not be receiving a refund and a letter would follow. The letter arrived in the next couple of days. It said I had not filed for 2004. I went to my tax files and I had the copy. The refund amount was for $10 and I had just donated it back to the Chesapeake Bay Fund. There was a number to call, and of course I couldn't get thru. I took a day off from work, because I didn't want anything hanging out there that I do not file my taxes. After a couple of hours of being on hold and then to call a couple of more places, I finally reached a very nice young lady. I explained my letter and she said they didn't have my file for 2004. So she took care of filing it over the phone. She was able to retrieve my federal information from the same year and compared it to what I had a copy of. She said not to worry, it would all shake out at the end of the tax season.

Now my federal I do a whole lot better on. A few days had gone by after talking to the nice lady in the comptroller's office and I check "Where's my Refund" on IRS.gov. Well, guess what? They intercepted my refund because of my state tax not being filed for 2004!!! A $10 refund that was given BACK to the state. OMG!!! So I call again, can't get thru.

I emailed the comptroller's office. I had no problem with them having to do their job, and if there were fines and fees to be paid that was fine too, but really. All for $10 that was suppose to go back to them? It took about a week and I had a response one night when I came home. The lady I had spoken with originally who did my file over the phone was in Baltimore. It now needed to be re-routed to Annapolis. Once it was received, it would be processed and I would receive my refund. Didn't think I would have to wait until after the tax season.

Lo & behold a few weeks ago, I went to the mailbox and there was my check! I was fined $150!!! for them not receiving it back in 2004, but that's ok. I just don't want them to haunt me the rest of my life over $10. And I have to say the young lady I initially spoke to was super!

I tell you all of this because if they intercepted my little bit of $$ over $10, Joe could be in deep shit.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like Joe has bigger problems than Shooter. The so called retirement of the chief can only be a good thing for the morale of the department.

A study was done of the P.D. sometime ago. Reportedly so bad, the city solicitor went to court to have it sealed. Now really. The study was paid for with the taxpayers money, but they are not allowed to know just how bad things were. I say it's time to clean house of the whole council when the opportunity presents itself.

I hope Captain Truitt gets the job. Probably won't. But I hope he does. I think he should. He has the respect of the town. I am sure he will have to jump thru all the hoops only to not get it, but maybe the town will rally behind him again when the time comes.

Asshole Joey A. would have you believe "he knows why the chief made the decisions he did".
And that happens to be some more bs. WHAT he knows and all he THINKS he knows are 2 different things.

This should turn out to be quite interesting.

I Could Never Be A Homicide Detective

There are a lot of things I couldn't ever be. Yesterday another father used his kids as pawns to extract his revenge on his ex-wife. I do not know, OR EVER WANT TO KNOW, how anyone could drown or harm their children. All for spite!
And God Bless the personnel that had to show up to that.
Hopefully, the sorry bastard won't make it to trial and save us all some money.

It was also reported a judge had not granted a permanent restraining order last year as there was no basis for it. Even though the father had threatened to kill his kids so she would have to live without them. As far as I am concerned, he should have had to escort the mother to the morgue and be made to sit w/her at her children's funeral.

Thankfully I can't be a cop. But I am grateful for the good ones that can & do have a career in law enforcement. I figured that, since they congregate at my cattle feeder and do not seem to have much fear of me when we are there (a bold one will sometimes come right up and sniff at the bags of feed while I am in the back of the truck not 4 feet away), it should not be difficult to rope one, get up to it and toss a bag over its head (to calm it down) then hog tie it and transport it home.I filled the cattle feeder then hid down at the end with my rope. The cattle, having seen the roping thing before, stayed well back. They were not having any of it.After about 20 minutes, my deer showed up -- 3 of them. I picked out a likely looking one, stepped out from the end of the feeder, and threw my rope. The deer just stood there and stared at me.I wrapped the rope around my waist and twisted the end so I would have a good hold. The deer still just stood and stared at me, but you could tell it was mildly concerned about the whole rope situation.I took a step towards it...it took a step away. I put a little tension on the rope and then received an education.

The first thing I learned is that, while a deer may just stand there look at you funny while you rope it; they are spurred to action when you start pulling on that rope. That deer EXPLODED.
The second thing I learned is that pound for pound, a deer is a LOT stronger than a cow or a colt. A cow or a colt in that weight range I could fight down with a rope and with some dignity. A deer-- no chance. That thing ran, bucked, twisted, and pulled. There was no controlling it and certainly no getting close to it. As it jerked me off my feet and started dragging me across the ground, it occurred to me that having a deer on a rope was not nearly as good an idea as I had originally imagined.
The third thing I learned, the only upside, is that they do not have as much stamina as many other animals. A brief 10 minutes later, it was tired and not nearly as quick to jerk me off my feet and drag me when I managed to get up. It took me a few minutes to realize this, since the blood flowing out of the big gash in my head mostly blinded me. At that point, I had lost my taste for corn-fed venison. I just wanted to get that devil creature off the end of that rope.I figured that if I just let it go with the rope hanging around its neck, it would likely die slow and painfully somewhere. At the time, there was no love at all between that deer and me. At that moment, I hated the thing, and I would venture a guess that the feeling was mutual.Despite the gash in my head and the several large knots where I had cleverly arrested the deer's momentum by bracing my head against various large rocks as it dragged me across the ground, I could still think clearly enough to recognize that there was a small chance that I shared some tiny amount of responsibility for the situation we were in, so I didn't want the deer to have it suffer a slow death, so I managed to get it lined back up in between my truck and the feeder - a little trap I had set before hand...kind of like a squeeze chute. I got it to back in there and I started moving up so I could get my rope back.
The fourth thing I learned!!!! Did you know that deer bite? They do! I never in a million years would have thought that a deer would bite somebody, so I was very surprised when I reached up there to grab that rope and the deer grabbed hold of my wrist. Now, when a deer bites you, it is not like being bit by a horse where they just bite you and then let go. A deer bites you and shakes its head --almost like a pit bull. They bite HARD and it hurts. The proper thing to do when a deer bites you is probably to freeze and draw back slowly. I tried screaming and shaking instead. My method was ineffective. It seems like the deer was biting and shaking for several minutes, but it was likely only several seconds.I, being smarter than a deer (though you may be questioning that claim by now) tricked it. While I kept it busy tearing the bejesus out of my right arm, I reached up with my left hand and pulled that rope loose.
That was when I got my fifth lesson in deer behavior for the day. Deer will strike at you with their front feet. They rear right up on their back feet, strike right about head, and shoulder level, and their hooves are surprisingly sharp.I learned a long time ago that, when an animal -- like a horse --strikes at you with their hooves and you cannot get away easily, the best thing to do is try to make a loud noise and make an aggressive move towards the animal. This will usually cause them to back down a bit so you can escape. This was not a horse. This was a deer, so obviously, such trickery would not work. In the course of a millisecond, I devised a different
strategy. I screamed like a woman and tried to turn and run.The reason I had always been told NOT to try to turn and run from a horse that paws at you is that there is a good chance that it will hit you in the back of the head. Deer may not be so different from horses after all, besides being twice as strong and 3 times as evil, because the second I turned to run, it hit me right in the back of the head and knocked me down.
Lesson six... Now, when a deer paws at you and knocks you down, it does not immediately leave. I suspect it does not recognize that the danger has passed. What they do instead is paw your back and jump up and down on you while you are laying there crying like a little girl and covering your head. I finally managed to crawl under the truck and the deer went away.So now I know why when people go deer hunting they bring a rifle with a scope so that they can be somewhat equal to the prey."

I don't know if this is a true story or not-but it was too funny not to share-MB46***I actually have some friends that would probably try this. LOL...

Man's 1st Mistake

On the first day, God created the dog and said: 'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.' The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?' So God agreed.
On the second day, God created the monkey and said: 'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.' The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?' And God agreed
On the third day, God created the cow and said: 'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.' The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?' And God agreed again.
On the fourth day, God created man and said: 'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.' But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?''Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'
So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.
Life has now been explained to you. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. The appraisal was done for what is soon to be "the old Station 16". It was appraised for almost $800,000.00. That seems to be a far cry from the cash offer of $250,000.00. JA boasts that he got Salisbury Soapbox kicked off the WMDT blogs. I'm hearing "it ain't over" yet.

Wayne was vindicated in the terroristic threatening charge. Congratulations Wayne!

Looks like JA has another woody for Hebron Fire Dept. So being ProMaryland, I am feeling the need to be ProHebron as well. I have volunteered at their facilities and find for the most part, the men & women to be quite dedicated. Same as any other volunteer fire company in the county. Keep up the good work. I personally would rather have 10 units show up at my door than have 1 and it not have what it needed to get the j0b done. As for a menace on the roads-that's why they use sirens-so you can hear them and PULL OVER and get out of the way. FOR ANY EMERGENCY VEHICLE!!
(That is in no way a reference to the tragedy over there this past summer.) Inside the room you will find your wife sitting in a chair. . . Kill her!!'

The man said, 'You can't be serious. I could never shoot my wife.' The agent said, 'Then you're not the right man for this job. Take your wife and go home.'

The second man was given the same instructions. He took the gun and went into the room. All was quiet for about 5 minutes. The man came out with tears in his eyes, 'I tried, but I can't kill my wife.' The agent said, 'You don't have what it takes. Take your wife and go home.'

Finally, it was the woman's turn. She was given the same instructions, to kill her husband. She took the gun and went into the room. Shots were heard, one after another. There was screaming, crashing, banging on the walls. After a few minutes, all was quiet.

The door opened slowly and there stood the woman, wiping the sweat from her brow. 'This gun is loaded with blanks' she said. It was around 1 a.m., and Bierstock, a Delray Beach, Fla. , eye doctor, business consultant, corporate speaker and musician, was bone tired after appearing at an event. He pulled up in his car, and the parking attendant began to speak. 'I took two bullets for this country and look what I'm doing,' he said bitterly. At first, Bierstock didn't know what to say to theWorld War II veteran. But he rolled down his window and told the man, 'Really, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you.'Then the old soldier began to cry.'That really got to me,' Bierstock says.
Cut to today.Bierstock, 58, and John Melnick, 54, of Pompano Beach - a member of Bierstock's band, Dr. Sam and the Managed Care Band - have written a song inspired by that old soldier in the airport parking lot. The mournful 'Before You Go' does more than salute those who fought inWWII. It encourages people to go out of their way to thank the aging warriors before they die.'If we had lost that particular war, our whole way of life would have been shot,' says Bierstock, who plays harmonica. 'The WW II soldiers are now dying at the rate of about 2,000 every day. I thought we needed to thank them.'The song is striking a chord. Within four days of Bierstock placing it on the Web, the song and accompanying photo essay have bounced around nine countries, producing tears and heartfelt thanks from veterans, their sons and daughters and grandchildren.'It made me cry,' wrote one veteran's son. Another sent an e-mail saying that only after his father consumed several glasses of wine would he discuss ' the unspeakable horrors' he and other soldiers had witnessed in places such as Anzio, Iwo Jima, Bataan and Omaha Beach. 'I can never thank them enough,' the son wrote. 'Thank you for thinking about them.'Bierstock and Melnick thought about shipping it off to a professional singer, maybe a Lee Greenwood type, but because time was running out for so many veterans, they decided it was best to release it quickly, for free, on the Web. They've sent the song to Sen. John McCain and others in Washington. Already they have been invited to perform it in Houston for a Veterans Day tribute - this after just a few days on the Web. They hope every veteran in America gets a chance to hear it.GOD BLESS every EVERY veteran...and THANK you to those of you veterans who may receive this !CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO HEAR THE SONG AND SEE THE PICTURES: Before You Go
http://www.managedmusic.com/Music/PlayBeforeYouGo.php

Thank you Shooter

Thanks for the head's up on JR. Too good to pass up.

The Laws of Life

Law of Mechanical Repair- After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch or you'll have to pee.

Law of the Workshop- Any tool, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner.

Law of Probability- The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.

Law of the Telephone-If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal.

Law of the Alibi- If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the very next morning you will have a flat tire.

Variation Law- If you change lines (or traffic lanes), the one you were in will start to move faster than the one you are in now (works every time).

Law of the Bath- When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.

Law of Close Encounters- The probability of meeting someone you know increases dramatically when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.

Law of the Result- When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't work, it will.

Law of Biomechanics- The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.

Law of the Theater- At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle arrive last.

Law of Coffee- As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.

Murphy's Law of Lockers- If there are only two people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers.

Law of Rugs/Carpets- The chances of an open-faced jelly sandwich landing face down on a floor covering are directly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet/rug.

Law of Location- No matter where you go, there you are.

Law of Logical Argument- Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.

Brown's Law- If the shoe fits, it's ugly.

Oliver's Law- A closed mouth gathers no feet.

Wilson's Law- this one is true every time! Got me to thinking-I needed to share this little bit of info.

Now b4 I get in trouble for #12, I DID NOT WRITE THIS!!! It was sent a few years ago by someone who was a server.
Sadly, as I read it, I realized I was a #2. I have always tipped 20% unless the service really sucked, and that is rarely really. And then maybe I will only do 10%-but that hasn't happened in so long, that I can't even remember the last time. And when I "camp", I do add extra.
So here goes:

The next time you're out eating at a restaurant, look
at your server. Do you think they are really happy to
be doing that job? The answer is no, they are not, but
its what we do, and we do it for the money so please
help us out. Its a tougher job than you think and you
should pay them accordingly!

There are SO many people out there flooding the
restaurants w/o any knowledge of how to tip. Here is a
short guide for the general public to follow. Feel
free to print out and store in your wallet and/or
purse.

1. CHILDREN "THE LITTLE DEVILS":
If you have children, DO NOT let them, open and dump
anything on the table (ie; salt, sugar, etc). IF YOU
DO, you must leave an extra $5 for the server to clean
up YOUR CHILD'S mess & to restock the now unusable
wasted items. Don't get mad if you ask for crackers
and your server tells you they're out when you just
saw another table eating crackers with their soup --
can you blame them for not wanting to clean up the
mess afterward? We are neither their babysitter nor
their parent. The least you can do is pay us for the
extra work. Also make sure you control your kids and
don't let them scream or run around the restaurant.
It's very distracting not to mention dangerous if they
get ran over by a server with hot food in their hands.

2. "THE CAMPERS":
If you feel the necessity to stay for longer than 15
minutes after you pay, its an extra $3 every 30
minutes. We make our money from the tables. If you are
in one and we can't seat it, we don't make money.

3. COMPLIMENTS:
Telling a server they are the best server they've ever
had is not a tip. If we are good, let us know by
leaving us more money. We cant pay our bills on
compliments. Its not that we don't appreciate the
praise, its just that if you say that and then leave
10% it's an insult.

4. THE SALVATION PAMPHLETS:
Prayer cards and any other religious pamphlet is NOT a
tip. It is insulting that you assume we are w/o
religion and must save us. Again, like ..4, we cant
pay bills w/prayer cards. We'd go to church on Sundays
if it wasn't mandatory to work on Sundays because
EVERYONE who goes to church follows it by eating out.
Also don't try to preach to us while we are working.
We don't go to your work and put you down so don't do
it to us.

5. TIPPING:
It is not 1960. Cost of living has gone up
dramatically since then. 18% is the MINIMUM amount of
what you should be tipping your servers. Remember,
that steak is $12.99 not $22.99 because restaurants
aren't required to pay minimum wage in most states!
($2.13 in Texas and New Jersey!) We are taxed on 10
percent of your meal automatically anyway, not to
mention we have to tip out a percentage of our sales -
your bill - to the hosts, bartenders, and bussers. So
if you dont leave a tip, WE END UP PAYING FOR YOUR
MEAL!! So move that decimal one spot left and multiply
by 2 and your server will never be disappointed. ($25
= $2.50 x 2 = $5)

6. THE COMPLAINERS:
If you get a discount because of your food was
prepared wrong or something, do not take it out of our
tip. We didn't cook it. The cooks get paid hourly
regardless if the food sucks. However, we only make
what you give us. And don't ever leave a percentage on
the total after the discount or comp -- always tip on
what the total would have been.

7. THE LATE ONES:
If you come into the restraunt 10 mins before closing
or any time near closing hurry up and order your food
and get out. Closed means closed, not social hour. It
is so rude to sit there and take your sweet ass time.
We can't leave until you leave because we have to do
sidework and clean the table you are sitting at. We
don't want to stand there waiting for you for an extra
hour just because you don't want to go home. We
recommend 24 hour establishments such as Dennys if you
wish to sit into the wee hours of the night.

8. THE TABLE HOGGERS:
If you only come in for coffee or a dessert, to do
paper work, or to have a meeting, don't sit there
taking up our booths for hours. We are not Starbucks
or a hotel restaurant. If you want to sit for hours,
go there or else you better leave a good tip for us
and camping fee included.

9. THE GREET:
When we come up to the table to greet you and we ask
how you are doing please let us know. We honestly want
to know how you are doing. If you are in a bad mood we
want to know that from the beginning. A confused stare
or complete silence does not suffice as a reply to
"How are you doing?". Also don't interrupt our
greeting and say "I want coffee", "can we get some
bread, or "what are the soups?"

10. THOSE DAMN CELL PHONES:
Don't ever talk on your cell phone in a restaurant.
This is probably the rudest thing to do. If you must
be on your cell, at least keep your voice down in
respect for other customers. If you are on your cell
phone when we walk up to greet your table we will walk
away until you get off your phone. Just show some
respect and give us your attention for a couple of
minutes.

11. TAKE-AWAY OR TO-GO'S:
Always remember to tip the take-out order servers!
They work just as hard as a server, and hardly ever
get tips for it! WE DESERVE TO BE TIPPED TOO!

12. I don't know whether to feel sorry for this man, or pray for him, (we can all use some of that-no matter who you are) or giggle myself silly.
I am in a tither.

I believe there could be small iota of value to some of the things he says/does. But then he goes off the deep end, and writes something so incredibly stupid I have to shake my head.

He threatens, stalks, name drops, tells half truths or no truths, and he becomes irate if anyone disagrees with him.

He posted some stupid story from someone who supposedly worked at Domino's Pizza. About not being paid for o/t and not mailing out w-2's in time and on & on he went. Did he call Domino's? Oh no, he had a rant that went on & on & on about the law. And then HE hears from the company itself. And posts their letter. However, I didn't see an apology to that company, just their letter. hmmmmmmm.

Historical Wit posted a good response to this man today on Salisbury Soapbox. He hit all the nails on the head. It was a good read.

At this time, I think I am going to have to join the ranks of the "Anti Albero" group. (And feel it too!)

All hair removal methods have tricked women with their promises of easy, painless removal - The epilady, scissors, razors, Nair and now...the wax.

My night began as any other normal weeknight. Come home, fix dinner, play with the kids. I then had the thought that would ring painfully in my mind
for the next few hours: "Maybe I should pull the waxing kit out of the medicine cabinet." So I headed to the site of my demise: the bathroom.

It was one of those "cold wax" kits. No melting a clump of hot wax, you just rub the strips together in your hand, they get warm and you peel them apart and press them to your leg (or wherever else) and you pull the hair right off. No muss, no fuss. How hard can it be? I mean, I'm not a genius, but I am mechanically inclined enough to figure this out. So I pull one of the thin strips out. Its two strips facing each other stuck together. Instead of rubbing them together, my genius kicks in so I get out the hair dryer and heat it to 1000 degrees. I lay the strip across my thigh. Hold the skin around it tight and pull. It works! OK, so it wasn't the best feeling, but it wasn't too bad. I can do this!

Hair removal no longer eludes me! I am She-rah, fighter of all wayward body hair and maker of smooth skin extraordinaire. With my next wax strip I move north. After checking on the kids, I sneak back into the bathroom, for the ultimate hair fighting championship.

I drop my panties and place one foot on the toilet. Using the same procedure, I apply the one strip across the right side of my bikini line, covering the right half of my *hoo-hoo* and stretching down to the inside of my butt cheek (Yes, it was a long strip) I inhale deeply and brace myself....RRRRIIIPPP!!!! I'm blind!!! Blinded from pain!!!!....
OH MY Good ness!!!!!!!!!Vision returning, I notice that I've only managed to pull off half the strip. CRAP!!! Another deep breath and RRIIPP!! Everything is swirly and spotted. I
think I may pass out...must stay conscious..

Do I hear drums crashing ??? Breathe, breathe...

OK, back to normal. I want to see my trophy - a wax covered strip, the one that has caused me so much pain, with my hairy pelt sticking to it. I want to revel in the glory that is my triumph over body hair. I hold up the strip! There's no hair on it.

Where is the hair??? WHERE IS THE WAX???

Slowly I ease my head down, foot still perched on the toilet. I see the hair. The hair that should be on the strip. I touch. I am touching wax.

CRAP!

I run my fingers over the most sensitive part of my body, which is now covered in cold wax and matted hair. Then I make the next BIG mistake......remember my foot is still propped up on the toilet?

I know I need to do something. So I put my foot down.

DANG!!!!!!!!

I hear the slamming of a cell door. "hoo-hoo*? Sealed shut!
Butt?? Sealed shut!

I penguin walk around the bathroom trying to figure out what to do and think to myself "Please don't let me get the urge to poop. My head may pop off!"

What can I do to melt the wax? Hot water!! Hot water melts wax!!! I'll run the hottest water I can stand into the bathtub, get in, immerse the wax-covered bits and the wax should melt and I can gently wipe it off, right???

WRONG!!!!!!!

I get in the tub - the water is slightly hotter than that used to torture prisoners of war or sterilize surgical equipment - I sit.

Now, the only thing worse than having your nether regions glued together is having them glued together and then glued to the bottom of the tub...in scalding hot water. Which, by the way, doesn't melt cold wax.
So, now I'm stuck to the bottom of the tub as though I had cement-epoxied myself to the porcelain!! God bless the man who had convinced me a few months ago to have a phone put in the bathroom!!!!!

I call my friend, thinking surely she has waxed before and has some secret of how to get me undone. It's a very good conversation starter - "So, my butt and who-hoo are glued together to the bottom of the tub!"

There is a slight pause. She doesn't know any secret tricks for removal but she does try to hide her laughter from me. She wants to know exactly where the wax is located, "Are we talking cheeks or who-hoo?"
She's laughing out loud by now...I can hear her. I give her the rundown and she suggests I call the number on the side of the box.

YEAH!!!!! Right!! I should be the joke of someone else's night.

While we go through various solutions. I resort to scraping the wax off with a razor. Nothing feels better then to have your girlie goodies covered in hot wax, glued shut, stuck to the tub in super hot water and then dry-shaving the sticky wax off!!

By now the brain is not working, dignity has taken a major hike, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to need Post-Traumatic Stress counseling for this event. My friend is still talking with me when I finally see my saving grace....the lotion they give you to remove the excess wax.

What do I really have to lose at this point?

I rub some on and OH MY GOODness!!!!!!!The scream probably woke the kids and scared the dickens out of my friend.

It's sooo painful, but I really don't care. "IT WORKS!! It works!!"

I get a hearty congratulations from my friend, and she hangs up. I successfully remove the remainder of the wax and then notice to my grief and despair....

THE HAIR IS STILL THERE.......ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!

So I recklessly shave it off. Heck, I'm numb by now.

Nothing hurts. I could have amputated my own leg at this point. Next week I'm going to try hair color...... Now that's funny........Notttttttttt

Cell Phones vs. The Bible

Wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around, in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it, several time a day?

What if we turned back to go get it, if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages, from the text?

What if we treated it, like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to our Kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

What if we used it in our everyday lives?

This is something to make you go....hmm... At least it's not Monday. LOL..

The blogs have been busy crucifying Davis Ruark. I am sick of hearing about it. At least he has laid low ( as he should). None of us are perfect, and I don't figure it's up to me to judge him. I hope he get himself sorted out. And whatever the path God has in store for him, may he find peace with it.

There's going to be a petition to recall the mayor. I am not sure it's worth the taxpayer's money. She didn't win the last one by a landslide, and it's not likely she would win a re-election either. So my thoughts are just to ride it out until the next election and save the taxpayer's money. I do not however follow the major leagues because it is such a circus. There have been many "great" ones who played for the love of the game, but we haven't seen anything like that since Cal retired.

Yesterday, hearings were held in Washington, wasting our tax dollars to ask Roger Clemens if he doped up during his career. It was he said/he said thruout the proceedings. And for what? What exactly was sooooo important? To waste the time/taxpayers dollars on this? Our borders are open to anyone who wants to come-we can't wait to hand them $$ hand over fist and our elected officials are worried about a sports figure doping? We are in Iraq, and will not be leaving anytime soon, no matter what the politicians stumping for the Presidency are saying. We will be there a while. Yet, did Roger Clemens use human growth hormones during his career? Are you kidding me? We have some real problems right here in this country. And what kind of pills/injections a major league ball player is doing isn't one of them.

Billary wants socialized medicine. Really? The way we treat our veterans is a good example of why NOT to go that route. And she is going to fix everything? yeah, right. "I got some oceanfront property in Arizona and if that don't work, I'll throw the Golden Gate in for free"

All of that being said, none of the candidates show me much except more promises & more bs.

The good news is The Daytona 500 starts the racing season off again and I am more than ready.
Congrats to Dale Jr.-I think he did the right thing hooking up w/Rick Hendricks.

I have never cared much for Tony Stewart or Kurt Busch. Two of their students died last night and 2 survived a horrific car accident. The 2 survivors will never forget that night for the rest of their lives and the parents whose lives will never be the same. God Bless them all.

You know, we all think we are invincible at that age. I couldn't wait to get my license. There wasn't any such thing as "too fast". Thankfully, I have lived to learn different.

Our family has lost 2 children to car accidents. Both at someone else's hand. I can tell you in 1970 I didn't understand, but in 2004 it was a little different. I have been blessed God's saving grace and a knowledge that all things are in His time, not ours. While I miss my siblings every day, I know that someday I will see them again. The '04 wreck broke my heart half in two, and I can honestly say I have never experienced anything worse than being on my knees in the morgue. That day nearly killed me and I cannot imagine burying your child. I hope that is a heartache I won't ever have to know.

In a few short years I have learned many lessons.

1. God does know my pain-His son was nailed to the cross.

2. I never walk alone.

3. Without my friends, I would never have gotten this far.

4. Grief counseling is a must.

5. No matter how bad a day it is, it will get better. Someday.

6. You will never get over it, but you will learn to live with it.

7. Everything happens for a reason. We may not understand in this life, but we will in the next one.

8. Rejoice in the memories. NO ONE can take those away from you. NO ONE!!!!

9. Give thanks for all of your blessings, no matter how "trivial" you think they may be.

& last but not least:

10. Pray, Pray, Pray, and Pray some more. He really does hear you.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to one and all. An email I received said "Hope love sticks to your face like vaseline" and "May your pockets be magnets for $100 bills. Along with "May all of your tears be tears of joy" etc.
I wish all those things and more for 2008!

We were talking at work the other day when the new millenium was coming and how panicked some people got. Going to the bank withdrawing $$, buying generators, etc. Neither is a bad idea, but we just chuckled about the memory. And here it is 2008 already. Who knew?

Did you watch the ball drop last night? I didn't make it that far. I use to love to watch Dick Clark before his stroke, but now I hardly recognize or like some of the entertainment. I am a country girl by heart and Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Reba or Conway will always win out. LOL.. I love the old gospel music too.

Have a blessed day, eat lots and lots of black eyed peas!

Hmmmmmm

I have gotten hooked reading some of the blogs. Cheap entertainment. But then it occurred to me that I really don't care what the mayor of Salisbury is wearing, or who thinks that SFD sunk their own boat to get a new one.

I thought why not have a place to come to and post a funny story that's happened. Or perhaps someone needs a prayer. Or has a concern. Maybe they just want to share how much they are missing someone. And even how God has worked in their life when they were least expecting it.

What I DON'T WANT and will not publish is foul language or anything hurtful to someone. There are enough of those kind of blogs and I hope to do something different.

So with a new year fast approaching, let's just be good to one another!
